Image Enhancement

Enhancement of an image is often required when the basic photograph is sound, and does not require any significant changes. It is, of course, an integral part of our restoration and manipulation services.

Enhancement options include:

  • Removal of red-eye
  • Adjustment of bad colour due to either poor processing of the original print or prolonged exposure to sunlight
  • Conversion to black & white (excellent b&w prints are often possible from a poor colour print)
  • Creation of a soft-edge vignette to suit particular requirements for mounting and/or framing
  • Cropping to suit the image and frame
  • Enlargement for a particular mount or frame
  • Reduction to suit a small frame (or even a locket!)

Customers often bring a photograph, and a frame, and ask us to produce a print (larger, smaller or 're-shaped' with a vignette) to suit the frame, and this, of course, is the best way to ensure a perfect match. This usually includes the creation of a custom-cut bevel mount, with an aperture to suit the image, and outer dimensions to suit the customer's frame.
