I have been a computer professional for all of my working life, since graduating in 1966. But well before then I was a keen amateur photographer, having been 'bitten' with my first camera at the age of fourteen. For most of the intervening years I have been involved with photographic clubs in one way or another, and even started my own camera club at the company that employed me, back in the early 1980s! Recent club activity has been with the Windsor Photographic Society, where I was Chairman for three years; I have also been webmaster for the Club for the last ten years. I acquired admission to Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) in March 2004.

In 1994 I decided to combine my computer skills with my love of photography to become skilled in the medium of digital photography. In 1996 I launched Heathfield Studios, offering customers my photographic restoration, manipulation and enhancement skills and services.

Other photo restoration services exist that are, on the surface, similar to mine. But many of my customers come to me having first tried the 'high street'. In all cases they have been disappointed with these alternatives. It is not so surprising that an order placed in a high street shop, which is then relayed to a piece-work 'technician' many miles away, turns out to be not exactly what was required, and not up to the quality hoped for. When a customer comes to me, I listen closely to what they want, sometimes suggesting alternatives and improvements that they may not have thought possible. Then it is I who does the work, not a remote technician. Even then, my customers are under no obligation until I know they are happy with the result. The outcome is that many of my customers return time and time again, and I receive many new jobs through recommendations from existing happy customers.

In 2006, after re-equipping with the latest scanner technology and pigment-based giclée printing, we are now placed to confidently offer a service to artists who are looking to optimise the return on their work by offering archival Limited Edition prints alongside the original.
